Coming Soon: Cupping!
In 2018 I’ll be working on more continuing education courses, and the next one is Massage Cupping! I’m very excited about it. From the ancient Egyptians, who introduced it to the Greeks, to Traditional Chinese Medicine, cupping has been used for a variety of conditions for thousands of years. My first experience with cupping was with Acupuncture, and I found it to be very helpful!
Cupping helps relieve inflammation, lift and stretch soft tissue (muscle, fascia, and attachments), release and soften scar tissue, loosen adhesions, lymph drainage, and in Chinese Medicine it dispels stagnation of blood and Chi. The marks left by cupping are not bruises. Bruising is caused by injuries and trauma leading to broken capillaries and the rush of healing fluids to the area. Cupping marks are the result of suction drawing toxins released from the underlying tissues and pulled up into the skin, and they aren’t painful. Please let me know if you have any questions!
