This is my first post since muting all my social media accounts for a week for the #amplifymelanatedvoices challenge, created by @jessicawilson.msrd and @blackandembodied (thank you!!!). I capped off the week with a community prayer vigil for social justice and racial equality at Moonlight Beach yesterday, hosted by the San Dieguito Interfaith Ministerial Association. Leaders and people from different faiths including Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and more, spoke, performed, and sang.  It was wonderful to see so many people from different faiths and backgrounds come together to show we all agree Black Lives Matter, and we are all called to love and seek justice for everyone!

In the photo of the social justice resources board, there is a flyer on the bottom right that shows The Golden Rule in 13 religions. Treating others ethically transcends the boundaries of religion, race, and status. It’s not enough to do no harm, we also have to take action to stop and prevent harm. We need to speak up and stand up for the rights of others. There is a huge portion of our society, our brothers and sisters, who have been treated like their lives don’t matter for so long, and it HAS to stop. This is my accountability post, my commitment to help:

📚I still have so much to learn, and there are so many amazing people and resources out there to learn from. I will continue to listen, research, and learn what it means to be anti-racist, a true ally and accomplice to social change, and learn about systemic racism and generational trauma, and I will share what I learn.
🗳I will continue to VOTE, sign petitions, and find ways to work for social justice.
🧠I will continue to do the inner work, asking questions like: How can I change for the better?  How can I help?
💞I will talk about these issues with family and friends.
🗣I will use my voice and influence to continue to amplify melanated voices, and support and stand up for marginalized people.
🤟I will continue in my efforts to help all people live healthier, happier lives, to spread love, and share resources to help.
👂I will listen and hold space for those seeking healing and understanding.
